Bonus Pai Gow Poker: a Different Kind of Poker Game
Bonus Pai Gow Poker is a…different…kind of Poker game; it's one of the least-known online forms of Poker and it has its roots in China. The game Pai Gow - on which Pai Gow Poker and Bonus Pai Gow Poker is based - is hundreds of years old. It is also believed to be one of the first games played with domino-like game pieces. The dominoes were played as parts of an army unit or a civilian unit. The game's history from the 1800s until the mid-20th century are somewhat murky, but in the later part of this spectrum, it morphed into the game now known in casinos. And it has since taken its place as a casino game played for real money. The game first appeared in American casinos around 1986.
Bonus Pai Gow Poker is a Poker game in which the seven cards are split into two separate hands. Bonus Pai Gow Poker is played with a regular deck of playing cards, and the Joker serves as a kind of wild card; players can use it to complete a straight or flush. Otherwise, it can fill in as an ace. Once the cards are dealt, the player has seven cards face-up and the dealer has seven cards face-down. Once you have your cards (and you have placed your bet, before the cards are even dealt), you must split your hand into two: one hand of five cards (the high hand) and one hand of two cards (the low hand). Your high hand must be, as might be obvious, higher than your low hand. If you are reluctant to do this for yourself, for whatever reason, a simple click on the house way button will do it for you. In order to win, both of your respective hands must beat both of the dealer's respective hands. If you beat the dealer in only one hand, though, the game ends as a tie.
Bonus Pai Gow Poker for Real Money
Bonus Pai Gow Poker, however, includes an extra bonus bet which may bring with it higher payouts. In this particular feature, you are not playing against the dealer but rather against yourself. And in this particular bonus bet, your hand is not split in two but rather kept as a single, intact unit. The payout scale for this bonus bet is as follows:
-
A five card straight pays 2 to 1.
-
Three of a kind pays 3 to 1.
-
A seven card straight flush pays 8,000 to 1.
-
Intermediate poker hands have odds in the middle of this scale.
Experts say that the best strategy for the game is to know how to divide your seven cards into the high and low hands. It is important to try and keep both hands as strong as possible, rather than rejecting one in favor of the other. They say that the high hand should include some kind of pair and that aces should usually be placed in the low hand. If you receive neither, then the highest card that you do receive should be in your high hand and the next two highest cards should go in your low hand.
Perhaps it sounds confusing, but most players agree that it is actually fun. Or perhaps it's that whole real money aspect. Try it out. Make your own choice.
